The Canada India Research Centre for Learning and Engagement (CIRCLE) invites PhD students from Canadian and south Asian universities engaged in research related to India, South Asia, Indian and/or South Asian diasporas to submit paper abstracts and panel proposals for this multidisciplinary virtual conference.  

The two-day, virtual conference is intended to showcase cutting-edge research being undertaken in diverse fields in any/all areas of the research focus. It aims to increase awareness about such research, facilitate networking, and foster impactful research.  

The conference will be structured around panels and keynote lectures. There will be virtual space for informal interactions. 

Conference Format

This conference will be delivered virtually over the course of two days, synchronously in Eastern (ET) and Indian (IST) time zones. Information regarding the schedule, themes and length of each session will be provided after accepted papers/sessions have been confirmed. There is no fee to participate in this virtual conference.  

There will be keynote lectures focused on health, natural sciences and engineering, and social sciences and humanities. The remainder of the conference will be organized around panel sessions. Each panel will comprise 4 or 5 presentations and discussion. A chair will moderate each panel. 


Eligibility to submit paper abstracts or panel proposals: 

  • PhD students in Canadian and south Asian universities from any program in the fields of health, natural sciences and engineering, social sciences, arts, and humanities. 

  • The PhD research should relate to India, south Asia, or Indian or South Asian diasporas.

 

Individual abstract submissions  

  • Paper abstract (100 words) 

  • 5–6 keywords  

  • Short bio (up to 80 words) 

For individual abstract submissions, the organizers will create panels based on the submissions received.

Panel submissions 

A panel should have 3 or 4 presentations and a chair. The panel organizer could be the chair or a presenter, but it cannot be both. Ideally, the panel should consist of presenters who are from different institutions, different countries and different disciplines. Panel organizers should coordinate the required information into a single panel submission. 

  • Panel title and abstract (100 words) 

  • 5–6 panel keywords (up to two can be geographical) 

  • Individual presentation titles and paper abstracts for each presenter (100 words each) 

  • Short bios for each presenter (up to 80 words each)
