Dr. Soumya Swaminathan elected as a Fellow of the Royal Society

Dr. Soumya Swaminathan, Chair of the M.S. Swaminathan Research Foundation (MSSRF) since 2023, has received a Fellowship to the Royal Society! The Fellowship of the Royal Society (FRS) is the U.K.’s national academy of the sciences. She is the second Indian woman in history to have received this honour.

As the first Chief Scientist of the World Health Organization, Dr. Swaminathan is an expert in tuberculosis and HIV research. She is being recognized for these accomplishments as well as for her instrumental work during the COVID-19 pandemic. In her role as the MSSRF Chair, she has collaborated with CIRCLE as a part of MSSRF’s ongoing work in sustainable agriculture. CIRCLE congratulates her on being a Fellow to the Royal Society!
