Terah Sportel

The long-term objective of my research is to establish a robust understanding of the politics of agrarian and livelihood change and agricultural labour dynamics in South India, while developing mechanisms for tangible contributions within communities. I have over 5 years experience living and working in South India, and have conducted in-depth, primarily qualitative and participatory research within Kerala and Tamil Nadu since 2001.
I have long admired the work of CIRCLE as an invaluable research nucleus in Canada on India/Indian diaspora, and for the opportunity it provides for networking & knowledge mobilisation. I recently obtained a tenure-track position at Laurier & now have the capacity to engage within academia/scholarship in an enhanced manner. I am grateful for the opportunity to build connections, collaborate, & learn with other India scholars. I am dedicated to supporting CIRCLE and actively engage with others.
