My MA research project focused on the land rights and identity concerns of the Mru people in the Chittagong Hill Tracts region of Bangladesh. As I prepare to apply for a PhD in Anthropology, I intend to investigate how the recent overthrow of an authoritarian regime in Bangladesh has impacted lower-middle-income citizens. Specifically, I aim to explore how grassroots counter-discourses have challenged the state's narratives of fear, which often frame dissenters as threats to national security. In this context, I plan to examine the reclaiming of public spaces as sites of resistance, contesting the state's securitization of everyday life.

Given CIRCLE's strong commitment to research, learning, and engagement with the South Asian diaspora, my research interests significantly align with its mission. I am eager to collaborate with scholars focused on South Asia, and I believe that membership in CIRCLE would greatly enhance my academic pursuits.
