The Mru, an Indigenous minority in Bangladesh’s Chittagong Hill Tracts, face persistent external interventions impacting their land and identity. This study examines how state and elite forces exploit Mru identity using frameworks of identity formation and Adibashi struggles. Drawing on participant observation and interviews with Mru villagers and Indigenous scholar-activists, it prioritizes Mru perspectives on lived experiences and identity. The research explores the intersection of land and identity, highlighting socio-political challenges. Ultimately, it seeks to propose pathways for addressing land and identity crises, contributing to a deeper understanding of Mru resilience and broader Indigenous struggles in Bangladesh.
