My name is Vishal, a PhD student under the supervision of Dr. Aswini Kumar Nanda, at Centre for Research in Rural and Industrial Development (CRRID), Panjab University, Chandigarh. My PhD research topic is “An Analysis and Financing of Out of Pocket Health Expenditure on Elderly Population: A Case Study of Haryana”. I have been working on primary data collected during 2020-21 from 8 districts of Haryana covering rural and urban areas. The major objective of my study is to find out the out of pocket health expenditure incurred on elderly and source of financing it and linking them to socio-economic and demographic characteristics. I am also trying to ascertain the catastrophic out of pocket health expenditure.

CIRCLE membership will help me to gain exceptional research capacity. It will help me to find out new and unknown research findings in the field of health economics and geriatric care . Through this opportunity, I would be able to enhance my knowledge of data handling, analysis, modelling and interpreting the results. I would be able to interact with the esteemed researchers of CIRCLE that will enhance my theoretical as well as research knowledge. Sharing skills with other individuals will allow me to gain a better understanding of different cultures and socio-economic values that may be unfamiliar to me.
