I am an interdisciplinary scholar, a filmmaker and an artist working at the intersection of natural and social sciences, centred on understanding the relationship between Indigenous people and conservation landscapes. I work with Kattunayakans, a hunter-forager Adivasi community of the Western Ghats in Southern India. I document their relationship with the local ecosystems through the lens of their coexistence with wildlife interactions, land meanings, traditional fire regimes, and food systems. As part of my research, I also produced an ethnographic documentary – Gidiku Vapathu, capturing some key research insights. Here is the link to the trailer here - https://youtu.be/dIJrsAeVQzI
I want to explore the possibilities of collaborating with CIRCLE and its members and develop a project/research proposal focusing on Adivasis and biodiversity conservation.
