Research Partner: Dr. Rupaleem Bhuyan, University of Toronto
Mandeep’s research and social justice work focus on family violence, gender-based violence, understanding the role of trauma in migration, and exploring second-generation immigrant youth’s stories of resistance, identity, and encounters with racism in the diaspora from a feminist anti-racist, anti-colonial lens. Mandeep is currently co-lead with Dr Rupaleem Bhuyan on the Border(ing) Practices: Systemic Racism, Immigration & Child Welfare is a collaborative research project aimed at understanding how immigration policies and systemic racism shape child welfare policies and practices with children, youth and families. This SSHRC-funded research project is in partnership with child welfare, immigration, and gender-based violence service providers and advocates within Ontario and British Columbia.
I have received CIRCLE newsletters for the past year and believe that my research interests and experience would be a suitable match with CIRCLE vision and mission.
